I will not be participating in this tournament... I'd rather roleplay battles that hold actual meaning to a larger storyline rather than ones where people just fight for the sake of fighting.

Personally, I am against tournaments on boards where players are capable of making characters with no restrictions... All it'll come down to is two players saying "Fireball" "Fireball" "Fireball" or some sort of equvilant magic of mass destruction... However, if you all want to do this then atleast do it right...

Here is my two cents on the matter...

First off, the judge(s) will need to be people who are not on any of the teams (sorry Silver, but if you have characters involved your ruling will be biased even if you are not intending it to be).

Next, I'd personally prefer it if team tournaments have it so that one player can have no more than one character on any given team. It isn't really a team tournament otherwise since it is just the one player roleplaying. Furthermore this encourages better roleplaying as the three players will be forced to mix and match stratigies.

Moving on, make this tournament entirely seperate from the board. Characters in this tournament can die but it will not affect the character they roleplay with here. Equally, this means your characters don't know each other prior to this tournament and thus ICly you wouldn't feel the need to hold back against a former ally.

Finally, judgeing (whoever does it) should not be based off damage done. If I can stress any point in this post I want it to be this one. Any character can be made with powers that literally blow up planets or create black holes. However, there are also a number of of characters that have no such abilities and may have little more than a sword and the ability to talk to animals. Now in a fight where all that matters is damage who do you think is going to win? Not exactly a fair contest, now is it?

The solution is that the points are decided based off of roleplaying skills. Who can provide the best posts, not nessicarily in terms of attacking, but also in terms of all around roleplaying ability (character interaction, dodging, details, ect.). Another option might be the banning of magical abilities from this tournament altogether since many characters are vastly overpowered.
