He does seem to have two personalities: The reaper, who is mostly in control, is a cold calculating persona who can emulate any emotion far be it compassionate etc. He discredits these expressions as simply assets, a means to an end. He manipulates generally to get what he wants, and is paranoid often times. At night he reaps those who deserve to be reaped. His philosophy is, if you cannot defend yourself from his onslaught, then you were meant to die.
The Slayer is a violent moody persona who discredits The Reaper as weak for simply not doing away with needless people. He loves to fight and lives for it, that's his ninja way.
