Here is Raye's history, Let's start at the beginning and the origin of her family curse.
Raye's great great great great etc grandmother Ruby fell in love with a prince when she was 18 years old. The prince's stepmother didn't approve because she was a commoner and He was the prince. She went to a sorceress and had a spell cast over Ruby and every first born girl in the family line. The next full moon, Ruby was transformed into a werecat, she was devastated and deamed herself unworthy of the prince, fleeing from london heartbroken and unknowingly pregnant. The prince searched for months for his love but eventually was forced to marry a duchess. The curse would become active on each girl's18th birthday and would only be broken when a woman in the family line would meet and fall in love with her one true love, her soulmate. Through the generations, not a single one of them found their soulmate, they were simply used and abused by other men. It seemed as though the fates would never allow them to escape this curse. Somewhere through the generations, after many failed attempts to remove the curse it was only altered, they eventually only changed into a werecat on the full moon, when they were in great peril and their body triggered it. Fast forward to Raye's mother Ariana. Ariana and Michael Prescott lived in a small village in the south of england, just south of london. Ariana was a midwife and her husband worked as an apprentice to a blacksmith. A year after they had Raye, they soon fell into hard times. Michael lost his job, and fell into drinking. He soon became a regular at the local pub. Ariana fell into a depression, struggling to care for her young daughter on her midwife income. She became very frail and lifeless, a ghost of her former self. Her next door neighbor, was named Cynthia Renault, and her husband John. She saw an opening and soon became Ariana's best friend, her confidant. She weaseled her way in to Ariana's life. She thought herself to be barren, and could have children of her own so she began to scheme a way to steal Raye from Ariana. Raye was only a year and a half when her parents were murdered. Cynthia hired someone to start a barfight with Michael, killing him in a knifefight. Cynthia poisoned Ariana and made it look as though she took her own life. Leaving Raye to cynthia in her suicide note. As soon as Cynthia got her hands on Raye she left her husband and fled to london. She met a rich socialite and manipulated him into marrying her and getting the life she wanted. Fast forward to Raye's 18th birthday, the full moon activates her curse and she finally escapes the clutches of Cynthia and starts her life on the run.
